We understand Heimat in the sense of bio-region – climatic, alimentary, customs etc. – a culturo-social articulation completely distinct from the state that probably does make sense – in the contrary of the spacial articulation organised by the state and national borders.

Heimat today is fluid and flexible, it is continuously changing and modifying – since forever there has been circulation between town and country, wildness and civilisation. As rodolf steiner commented :
